Disposable sterile medical gloves are used in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. They are worn by healthcare professionals to prevent the transmission of infections and to protect both the healthcare worker and the patient. Here are some situations where sterile medical gloves are typically used:

1) Surgical procedures: Sterile gloves are worn during surgical procedures to prevent the transfer of microorganisms between the patient and the surgical team. The gloves are worn to maintain a sterile field and prevent contamination of the surgical site.

2) Invasive procedures: Sterile gloves are also used during invasive procedures, such as the insertion of catheters or the drawing of blood, to prevent the transfer of microorganisms from the healthcare worker to the patient.

3) Patient care: Sterile gloves may be used when caring for patients with compromised immune systems or who are at high risk of infection, such as those in intensive care units or undergoing chemotherapy. In these situations, gloves are worn to protect the patient from infection.

It's important to note that not all medical procedures require the use of sterile gloves. Non-sterile gloves are often used for tasks such as cleaning and basic patient care. The decision to use sterile gloves should be based on the specific procedure being performed and the level of risk for infection. Healthcare professionals should always follow the recommended protocols for glove use to ensure the safety of both themselves and their patients.

There are several methods for sterilizing gloves, including:

1) Gamma radiation: Gamma radiation is a method of sterilization that uses high-energy gamma rays to kill microorganisms. The gloves are exposed to gamma radiation, which penetrates the material and kills any microorganisms present. Gamma radiation is commonly used in the production of disposable gloves for medical and industrial use. This method is effective at sterilizing gloves, but it can be expensive and may cause damage to some materials.

2) Ethylene oxide (ETO) sterilization: Ethylene oxide (ETO) sterilization is a method that uses a gas to sterilize gloves. The gloves are placed in a sealed chamber and exposed to ethylene oxide gas, which penetrates the material and kills microorganisms. ETO sterilization is commonly used for gloves that cannot withstand the high temperatures of autoclaving. However, this method can be time-consuming and requires specialized equipment to ensure that the gas is removed from the gloves before they are used.

The above Gamma and EO are the two common sterilization methods for sterile disposable rubber gloves. Fitone offers different types of sterile latex surgical gloves and sterile latex examination gloves. Contact our team to find out a suitable solution.

3)Autoclaving: Autoclaving is a method of sterilization that uses high-pressure steam to kill microorganisms. The process involves placing the gloves in a special autoclave chamber and subjecting them to high-pressure steam at a temperature of 121°C for 15-20 minutes. The steam penetrates the gloves and kills any microorganisms present, making the gloves sterile. Autoclaving is a commonly used method in hospitals and laboratories for sterilizing surgical gloves and other medical equipment.

4) Hydrogen peroxide vapor (HPV) sterilization: Hydrogen peroxide vapor (HPV) sterilization is a low-temperature sterilization method that uses a highly concentrated vapor of hydrogen peroxide to kill microorganisms. The gloves are placed in a sealed chamber and exposed to the HPV vapor, which penetrates the material and kills any microorganisms present. HPV sterilization is commonly used in the production of nitrile gloves. This method is effective at sterilizing gloves, but it requires specialized equipment and can take several hours to complete.

It's important to note that different types of gloves may have different requirements for sterilization, and not all gloves are compatible with all sterilization methods. It's always best to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the specific type of gloves you are using to ensure they are properly sterilized.
